Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra to tie the knot on November 22

It's finally confirmed. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra will tie the knot on November 22. The wedding will surprisingly be devoid of the usual Bollywood friends and glitter. This comes as Shilpa and Raj arrived at a joint decision to keep the affair 'short and sweet'.

However, two days after the actual wedding reception, Shilpa will be hosting another party for colleagues from the industry. While the marriage itself is to be conducted at her business partner Kiran Bawa's farmhouse in Khandala. The venue of her wedding reception is still being kept under wraps.

Shilpa's sister who missed the engagement ceremony while being locked away in the Bigg Boss house apparently might also miss the wedding as the show isn't scheduled to end till the date. The only option is that she be evicted from the Bigg Boss house in time for her sister's wedding.

Favourite authors: Paulo Coelho, Brian Weiss

Favourite dish: Anything with chicken in it

Cook? Bake cakes

Pets: Love puppies. Direct way to my heart!

Weakness: Shopping. It's actually therapy for me when I am tired or in a bad mood. It helps me to get back into the groove.

She is chic, chilled out and classy. But trust me (or better, trust the oomphy photos in this spread), this babe is like a simmering volcano -- she can erupt in molten appeal when she decides to.

Better known as the Jannat girl, Sonal Chauhan started her Bollywood career starring opposite Emraan Hashmi in the Mahesh Bhatt sleeper hit from summer '08.

But from being the fresh faced girl in that thriller-romance set in the backdrop of cricket betting, to working with (and liking) someone like Saif Ali Khan, she surely has come a long way.

Currently working in painter M F Husain's son Owais Husain's directorial debut Punjab 69, Sonal says she never plans stuff in life for "when I do, it never works out."

Has life changed for you after Jannat?

Yes. For the better, I believe. I get paid more as an actor than I did as a model. I enjoy acting and am trying to make a place for myself. I hope people appreciate my future films as much as they did Jannat.

'Normal girl' is an understatement when you have been the face of Ponds and have won the international Miss Tourism title.

Being a model is different. Only few people recognise you whereas an actor has mass appeal. As a model, life is good but as an actor you live a larger than life experience and it is better. Since my first film released on my birthday I believe it was the best birthday gift I could get.

How is it working with M F Husain's son Owais on your new film?

Owais is an artist. The first time he narrated the script to me it felt as if he was painting his characters on a canvas. Punjab 69 is a love story and has been shot with the sensitivity of an artist. Anurag Sinha from Subhash Ghai's Black and White is paired opposite me and the film has been shot by cinematographer Santosh Sivan. We shot in Chandigarh for 40 days and I just didn't feel like coming back. I bonded well with Owais's sister and wife.

Did you get a chance to interact with M F Husain? What was your experience?

Hussain saab is passionate about film-making and is very fond of Owais, his youngest child. They were in touch on SMS. As he was missing the whole experience, we would update him.

What else in a man turns you on?

I like men who smell good, and have good breath. They should respect women. I would like to date someone who is secure and confident -- a man like Saif Ali Khan.

Saif is a very dignified human being. He is comfortable in his own space and respects his girlfriend, Kareena. He lets her be, is not insecure about her and the best part is that he is not scared to admit to the world that he is madly in love with her. That is great. I would want to have a man like that.

Since Owais is an artist, were you exposed to art during the film?

Art runs in his blood. So, yes I was. We did discuss paintings and famous artists. We also had a lot of shayari on the sets. Owais and his assistant director would make up poems on the weather, sometimes they would dedicate a poem to me. I loved that; it was flattering.

Does the written word turn you on?

Yes. I love it when poetry is written for me. I have tried writing it myself. Recently, at my sister's urging I have started to write a diary. It's fun. I enjoy writing in it. It's like exploring a new side of yourself. Conversations are also important. If a man can't have an engaging conversation, I lose interest pretty fast.

You don't have one in your life right now?

[Chuckles] I am single.

I believe in soul mates. For months now I have been reading books on the subject; so maybe, it's a sign from God. If there is something like soul mates I would like to find mine. They say if you look into a person's eyes you know if it is him.

What kind of men do you like?

I find men in uniform -- navy or army -- very attractive. They have this aura about them. I respect these men who put their lives at stake for us. Playing with their lives, saving the country. My father is in the police.

When anything goes wrong in the country we blame the police force but when things are going well no one praises them. Even during the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, we were scared even to step out of our homes. At times like this, these men show no fear. Imagine what their families go through. When one of them dies in in the line of duty, we give their families some money. Is that enough? Everyone needs to think about this and do something.

After the terrorist attacks, when I went for the peace march at the Gateway of India, I was so moved. When we saluted them, the commandos waved at us. That respect meant a lot to them. I had goose bumps all over my body and tears in my eyes.

Manisha Koirala Join Politics

Manisha Koirala is seriously contemplating joining Nepali politics. Her grandfather BP Koirala and her granduncle GP Koirala have both been

ex-Prime Ministers of the mountain kingdom; and during her Diwali acation in Kathmandu, Manisha visited the BP Koirala Memorial, fuelling talks of her imminent entry into politics.

It is still not clear whether she will contest elections as an Independent candidate or join the Nepali Congress which senior members of her family have been involved with, but the actress is serious about an alternate career.

“I will join politics,” says the actress who is flying to Los Angeles on November 5 for a work assignment. Manisha, who has steered clear of Nepal politics so far, says that her recent trip to Kathmandu has given her some fresh insights into the socio-political scene.
“I have a couple of films to complete in Mumbai,” she admits.

But she has spent almost four months this year in the US and seriously wants to move home base from Mumbai to Los Angeles. “It is too early to say anything about the work I am planning in LA,” says Manisha. “But I have made some good contacts in the movie business. I want to make LA my base as far as films go.”

The actress says that since her parents are now in Kathmandu, she doesn’t want to live alone in her huge duplex. “It makes little sense to run this place for one person... and it is also getting a bit lonely,” she admits.

Her brother Siddharth and his family have their own apartment in Mumbai. So the next step for her is to commute between Los Angeles and Kathmandu. “My political plans are in the formative stage,” she says. “However, I do realise that if I’m to take the plunge; which I have decided, I will then I need to spend a lot of time in my home country.”

While the actress wishes to continue to dabble in movies in some form or the other (be it acting or producing) she also wants to make her foray into politics.

Manisha will return to India in the third week of November because she is likely to be conferred with a political honour in Kanpur/Delhi around that time.

However, the makers are still on the lookout for the main heroine, whose character will be introduced in the second half, since Sneha and Namitha will only be providing the glam factor.

The lead heroine's character is very relevant to the story and will, supposedly, make a huge difference. Anushka, Bhumika, Sneha and Priyamani are some of the possible names under discussion, given their experience in doing strong roles.

Save my husband from Nayantara: Ramlath

The media continues to harp upon the Nayanthara-Prabhu Deva romantic link-up. Reportedly, Nayantara came to Mumbai just to watch the premiere of Wanted (Hindi) with Prabhu Deva. “No comments” was the only comment from the duo when the media converged on them.

Prabhu Deva’s wife Ramlath has opened her heart to a leading vernacular daily with a tearful message that she is already distressed by the death of her 12-year-old son Vishal due to cancer six months ago.

In her hard-hitting message, Ramalath said she would never allow her husband to marry another girl. “A husband is punished for a second marriage when his first wife is alive. I feel the second wife should be arrested when she tries to snatch a man who is already married.”

Admitting that she did pick a fight with Nayantara once over phone, Ramlath said she will give Nayantara a sound thrashing if they meet.

Expressing her anger at a leading actor who, in the garb of playing a mediator’s role, is only helping the love to blossom, Ramlath said that the said actor should put his house in order first – clearly referring to his divorce case, now in the High Court.

“If Nayantara could throw Simbu out after being on the verge of marrying him, what is the guarantee that the same fate would not befall my simpleton husband,” says this mother of three.

In a pleading note, Ramlath has requested elders to intervene to solve this unsavoury episode which has rocked Kollywood.

Anjaneyulu – Review

Films are of different genre so as the filmgoers. After giving a blockbuster like Kick, the audiences in general and the fans of Ravi Teja have been eagerly looking for the next movie with lots of expectations. Anjaneyulu did not disappoint the audiences as it has all kinds of elements expected from Ravi Teja’s film.

Anjaneyulu (Raviteja), the son of headmaster Krishnamurthy (Nazar), is an average student at school. Krishnamurthy and his wife always encourage and pamper him. After completing his education, Anjaneyulu gets the job as a director in a television channel, as the proprietor (Jeeva) of the channel was the student of Krishnamurthy. He enjoys his life as it comes. Anjaneyulu and Krishnamurthy move like friends.

Once Anjaneyulu comes across Anjali (Nayantara) who works with a mobile service provider. He loses his heart at first sight and slowly they fall in love. Anjaneyulu informs his parents and they reach Hyderabad to fix the alliance. While returning to their native place, they are burnt alive in an accidental fire mishap. However, Anjaneyulu learns that it was not an accident but a cold blooded murder perpetrated by several big heads like home minister (Dandapani) and MLA (Jayaprakash Reddy), with the help of a local mafia don Bada (Sonu Sood).

In fact, a journalist (Sameer) prepares a big file with all evidences on the illegal activities of the Home Minister and wants to submit it to the chief minister. The Home Minister orders Bada to kill him upon a condition that it should not look like a murder as it might throw light on him. Learning this, Anjaneyulu decides to take a revenge on Bada and the other politicians and joins Bada's group as a goon and finally executes his plan and kills everyone. However, the interesting point here is that Anjaneyulu tells Anjali that he did not kill them for revenge, but decided to kill them only to satiate his sorrow, as his parents did not die out of old age or of some disease and lost life without enjoying their life with son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. In the climax, Anjaneyulu hands over all the evidence he gathered to prove that the Home Minister, MLA, several other officials who assisted them were corrupt and the film ends on a happy note.

PLUS:
The highlight of the film is entertainment and comic relief. The director Parasuram has not only prepared a story that suits Ravi Teja but has also penned punching dialogues which are quite casual for dialogue delivery. Ravi Teja too has done a great job as the character is like the extension of his various films like Idiot, Amma Nanna…, Venky and the latest Kick. Nayantara does not have much scope to perform but has sizzled in dances and has proved that her combination with Ravi Teja is the best. Sonu Sood, who won the compliments for his performance in Arundhati has played the villain again by doing justice to his role. Though the songs tuned by Thamas are not so melodious, the choreography is superb.

MINUS:
The film is good in all aspects and there are very few minus points. In fact, comedy by Brahmanandam has not been etched well. Same is the case with Kota Srinivasa Rao’s character. Why the director abruptly ends the character is not known. The only drawback which is very clear is the speedy closure of the climax. Bhuvaneswari episode is also unnecessary in the film. Action by Ram-Laxman appears a little over enthusiastic as most of the fights are too cinematic.

REMARKS:
The strength of Lord Hanuman is not known to Him and one has to explain to him about it. But Anjaneyulu is not of that kind but is very fast and active. The characterisation of Ravi Teja would Definitely attract all classes and all age groups. His character has two different shades — a responsible youth and another very chivalrous. If you want to go to a theatre for mere entertainment, Anjaneyulu is the right film.
